Story «
Sharon and Gary Lessing’s love for wine began more than thirty years ago, shaped by frequent visits to Napa Valley and a growing appreciation for the land, the wines, and the people behind them. They were drawn to vintners who treated winemaking as a personal expression—an agricultural pursuit guided by care, intention, and respect for place.
That curiosity led to early winemaking experiments from a home vineyard, deepening their connection to the craft. When the Lessings first set foot on the CourAvant estate in St. Helena, they immediately recognized it as something special—a place defined by natural beauty, quiet energy, and a sense of retreat from everyday life.
Today, CourAvant is a family-owned Napa Valley estate rooted in thoughtful farming and intentional winemaking. Guided by winemaker Sally Johnson Blum, the wines reflect a belief in precision, balance, and authenticity—expressions shaped by both the land beneath the vines and the sky above. Grown under the sun by day and the stars by night, CourAvant offers wines meant to be shared, savored, and enjoyed over time.
